Identity
Your identity and value are hard-wired to God himself. It is our union with Christ that redefines the way we understand ourselves.
Whenever behaviour and performance flow into who we are there is pressure and stress and we never quite get "there". When we realise who we are in Christ we realise that we are united with Him... it takes all the pressure off.
Watch as Peter shares what it is like to have a "noisy self" and what it looks like when who we are flows out of who Christ is.

A slower pace and a methodical rhythm are a couple of the hallmarks of those who trust in God. They know God is the most significant actor in the world, not them. They know he is the last line of defence. They are settled in fear-filled moments because they know God is sovereign, they know He loves them, and they know He promises to make all things work together for good (Romans 8:28). These truths are ballast for their soul, and because they know them deep down, they tend not to “fear anything that is frightening.” (1 Peter 3:6)
Being made in the image of God bestows great value upon humanity - but it does so only when humanity stays connected with, and imaging, God.
Information surrounds you. The growth in the volume of information is exponential and it shows no signs of slowing. But when it comes to God, what you need is not necessarily more information- but more savouring of what is in front of you.
One word used for this kind of savouring of truth is the word meditate.
Being joined to Jesus enlarges our identity. We are no longer merely an individual.

As I sit and look at our bin, I see all of the rubbish our family needs to be rid of. I imagine what our house and our yard would be like without this regular opportunity to have it taken away. Decaying rubbish would pile up everywhere. We would eventually trip over it and be overcome by the stench it would generate. Life would not be pleasant. But it isn’t unpleasant, because every week the garbage man comes and takes it all away.
