Pastoral work can be a real handful. From the vast array of struggles people face, to the troubles you don’t seem to have any categories for and the sheer number of people needing help – pastoral work can be overwhelming. It can feel like everyone has a problem – including you!
You might think to yourself, “If I could just talk with someone about what I am dealing with, I would be OK.” But you can’t talk about it with others in your church because it would expose who you were talking about. So you keep quiet and try to carry it all yourself. But it's less than ideal; for you, for those you help, and for your church community. No one has enough strength and wisdom to do pastoral work alone. You were not made to.
If you have ever felt close to this description, pastoral supervision will be helpful for you. Restore Ministries pastoral supervision seeks to support those in pastoral roles with oversight anchored in biblical counselling. It will:
Provide a safe place for pastoral carers to discuss cases
Support people in pastoral roles (paid and unpaid)
Enhance existing ministry practices of pastors and pastoral carers
Provide a safe place for pastoral staff/carers to be candid about their own wellbeing
Provide a safe place for pastoral staff/carers to be cared for
